User Agreement

You may use macrocosma if you are at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into this Agreement. A person under 18 may use the platform only with the prior permission and active involvement of a parent or legal guardian who accepts responsibility for the account.

If you use the platform for an institution, company or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it when publishing content or making commitments in its name.

Accounts use passwordless email-code authentication. You must provide accurate, current and complete information, use an email address you control, protect login codes from unauthorised use and promptly tell us if you suspect misuse of your account.

Membership categories are scientist, young scientist and industry expert. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify the selected category, including an ISIC identifier or student-card image for a young scientist. Administrators may approve, reject or ask for clarification. Verification confirms only that the submitted information met our platform criteria at the time of review; it is not a professional licence, accreditation, recommendation or guarantee.

You may not transfer an account, impersonate another person, create an account using an identity you are not authorised to use, or evade a suspension. Tell us promptly if required profile or eligibility information becomes inaccurate.

macrocosma provides professional discovery, community profiles, open-call listings, event information and related platform functions. Unless we state otherwise for a particular feature, use of the platform is free of charge.

We may improve, replace, pause or discontinue a feature when reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal compliance or development of the service. We will give reasonable notice of a material adverse change when circumstances allow.

We do not promise that every profile, opportunity or event will remain available, that every member will respond, or that use of the platform will result in funding, employment, collaboration, admission, attendance or any other outcome.

Verified members can browse member profiles. Depending on the fields you complete, your profile may display your name, category, title, institution, field, biography, skills, photos, ORCID identifier, professional base, external links and contact details to other verified members. Public institution-level maps and aggregate analytics are designed not to identify individual members.

You control whether to provide optional contact and profile fields and may edit them or remove profile and cover images. Information needed for account administration, verification, platform integrity or legal compliance may remain in internal records as explained in the Privacy Policy.

A member who publishes an open call is responsible for having authority to publish it and for keeping its description, eligibility requirements, deadline, location, working mode, compensation and other material terms accurate. A publisher must clearly disclose any conditions that could reasonably affect a member’s decision to apply.

The platform is a listing and connection service. epiSTEMe Hub is not the employer, funder, contracting party, recruiter or agent for a member-posted open call unless the listing expressly says otherwise. Any later application process, selection, agreement, payment, tax, immigration, employment or intellectual-property arrangement is between the relevant users or organisations.

The current in-platform application action records an application or expression-of-interest count. It does not itself create an employment, grant, services or other contract, and it does not guarantee that the publisher will contact or select the applicant.

Publishers may edit an active call or mark it as cancelled. A cancelled call may remain visible with that status so that existing links are not misleading and platform statistics remain accurate.

A member who submits a scientific event is responsible for the accuracy of its dates, location, format, description and any attendance conditions. Unless the event page expressly identifies epiSTEMe Hub as organiser, the event is organised by the person or organisation named in the listing and that organiser is responsible for registration, accessibility, safety, cancellation, payment and attendance terms.

You must use the platform lawfully and in a way that respects other people and the integrity of the community. You must not:

• publish false, deceptive, outdated or materially incomplete profile, open-call or event information;
• harass, threaten, discriminate against, defame, exploit or unlawfully surveil another person;
• publish content that infringes privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property or other rights, or disclose another person’s data without a lawful basis;
• use member contact details for spam, bulk marketing, list building, scraping, resale or an unrelated purpose;
• upload malware, attempt unauthorised access, test vulnerabilities without written permission, interfere with the service, bypass access controls or automate access in a way that burdens the platform;
• misrepresent an opportunity, request unlawful payment, engage in fraud, recruitment abuse or any unlawful activity; or
• help another person do any of the above.

You retain ownership of content you submit. You confirm that you own it or have all permissions needed to submit it and allow us to use it as described here.

You grant epiSTEMe Hub a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display and make your content available only as needed to operate, secure and promote the platform and its community functions. The licence ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for limited backup copies, content retained for legal reasons, and content that another user lawfully holds outside the platform.

The platform software, visual design, branding and original platform materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Except for normal use of the service, this Agreement does not transfer those rights to you. You may link to the platform and share a listing through ordinary sharing functions, provided you do not imply endorsement or misrepresent the source.

We may review reports and remove or restrict content that violates this Agreement or the law. We may also correct a label, mark an open call as cancelled, preserve evidence, or restrict an account while we investigate. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will notify the affected user and allow a reasonable opportunity to respond.

To report illegal content, infringement, impersonation, privacy abuse or a misleading listing, email epistemecetinje@gmail.com. Include the URL or content identifier, a clear explanation, supporting information, your contact details and, where relevant, the right you own or are authorised to enforce. Knowingly false reports may themselves violate this Agreement or the law.

We do not have a general duty to monitor every item before publication, but we will act on sufficiently clear notices as required by applicable law.

You may stop using the platform at any time and may ask us to close your account by emailing epistemecetinje@gmail.com. The Privacy Policy explains how deletion requests are handled and when limited data may be retained.

We may suspend or terminate access when we reasonably believe that an account or content violates this Agreement, presents a security or legal risk, harms another person or the platform, or when we are required to do so by law. Serious or urgent risks may require immediate action. Where practicable, we will explain the reason and provide a way to contest an error.

Terms that by their nature should continue after an account ends remain effective, including ownership, necessary content licences, disclaimers, liability rules, dispute provisions and obligations arising from earlier conduct.

The platform may link to ORCID, LinkedIn, universities, employers, event organisers, member websites and other third parties. Their services and content are outside our control and governed by their own terms. A link or profile reference does not by itself mean that epiSTEMe Hub endorses or verifies everything on the external service.

We provide the service with reasonable care and will respect rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to those mandatory rights, the platform is provided as available and professional or user-generated information may contain errors or become outdated. You should independently assess a person, organisation, opportunity, event and external link before relying on it or making a commitment.

To the extent permitted by law, epiSTEMe Hub is responsible only for direct loss caused by its breach of this Agreement or a duty imposed by law that was reasonably foreseeable when the service was used. We are not responsible for a member’s conduct, an external service, or an indirect business loss that we could not reasonably foresee or prevent.

Nothing in this Agreement limits liability that cannot be limited under Montenegrin law, including liability arising from intent or gross negligence, injury caused by our fault, or mandatory consumer and personal-data rights.

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Montenegro, including the Law on Electronic Commerce, the Law on Obligations, applicable consumer-protection rules and intellectual-property law.

Please send a complaint to epistemecetinje@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it. If a dispute cannot be resolved, the courts of Montenegro have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rule that gives a consumer the right to bring proceedings before another competent court or use an available out-of-court process.

We may update this Agreement to reflect legal, security or service changes. We will publish the new version and date. For a material change, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the platform or by email where required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Agreement; if you do not accept it, you must stop using the service and may request account closure.

If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply and the affected provision will be interpreted as closely as the law permits. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. We may transfer this Agreement only in connection with a lawful reorganisation or transfer of the service that does not reduce your mandatory rights.
